Basil

STORE: Do not refrigerate! If root ball is present, place it in a glass of water and leave at room temperature. If no roots are present, snip off the ends before submerging them in a glass of water.

USE: Though great in salads and tomato sauces, basil is best showcased in pesto, an Italian paste made with olive oil, ground nuts and Parmesan cheese. We love this recipe from Giada de Laurentiis. Spread it on crusty bread and top with a slice of tomato and fresh mozarella for a satisfying lunch.
