Well, we were overwhelmed by all the wonderful emails, hand-written notes, verbalized compliments, and unending smiles. We’ve collected some of our favorites and printed them here for your enjoyment. Watch out, their joy is infectious!

” I wanted to talk to you about apples that you brought in mid-October. I don’t even know the name but they were the BEST apples I have ever had. I actually hid them from the family. Something I am not proud of…”

“I think it is really wonderful what you are doing. The sight of all those people yesterday lining up to get their healthy produce made me see you as a kind of community-building pied piper. You are giving people a really good communal experience in addition to selling them some really good and reasonably-priced produce. I was really delighted to see you in that role. And the eggs and veggies are wonderful. The eggs actually have a real shell worthy of the name, and the color of the yolk is intense. Thanks for doing this.”

“Your cider is absolutely delicious. We drink it hot and cold, all the time. We practically fight over it! See you tomorrow–empty gallon jug in hand.”

“I’m so impressed with the vegetables we’ve been getting (I have a green onion the size of a small pear) that I’ve been taking pictures of the veggies and sending them to my family and friends in Nevada and California. They are incredibly jealous. When my brother was here visiting we made a salad with our weekly haul. He raved that it was the best salad he’d ever eaten because the lettuce was so tasty, fresh, and straight from the farm rather than from a store-bought “fresh bag”.

“The corn last week was the best part of the best shrimp boil ever”

“I meant to tell you at the time, but just wanted to pass on to you how much we enjoyed the broccoli we received last season. We have never had broccoli that steamed perfectly crisp-tender each time and maintained it’s fresh green color. Thanks so much and hope you all are enjoying the holidays.”

“I love Horse & Buggy Produce. It’s the way everyone should get food. I like the community of weekly pick-ups with the same group of people, some friends and mostly friendly strangers. I like knowing that we’re helping keep small farmers in business. I love the quality of the food. I love that it’s local, and that my apple didn’t cost the planet the toll of a long trip from God-knows-where. And the taste of everything—holy cow.”

“Your prices are good, the abundance of food is lovely, and you guys and your customers are a joy to be around. Going to pickups with my kids has been a fun family activity. It is refreshing to do business with such nice people. We think Horse & Buggy rocks.”

“Horse & Buggy is good for the taste buds, the waistline, the planet, the community, the kids, the wallet, and the soul. Thank you. We love you guys. Keep up the good work.”

“I’ll be sad when the season is over, but I hope we will do it again next year. The food is just part of it; the truck smells good and looks cool with all the hay and shelves. Brett is so funny. Once when a rhubarb fell he yelled, “somebody pick up the rhubarb,” like it was a baby. I have always wondered if there were chicks inside the eggs we get, but I guess not.”

“I am not exaggerating when I say that I have shed tears at the beauty of an heirloom tomato in my hand.”

“In this crazy, messed up world, I am grateful to be a part of something that is right and good and beautiful.”

“I will always remember the head of red leaf lettuce I received from Horse & Buggy Produce this past summer. When I picked it out of a basket, I thought it was the most beautiful lettuce that I had ever seen—large, tender, fresh and dewy. Its superb color blushed from deep green at the base to an unsullied red at the tips. It deserved to be the focal point of a still life oil painting. But I’m no painter, so I turned it into a salad and it was delicious.”

“I go to Horse & Buggy on Saturdays. We get yummy food. My favorite thing is the corn on the cob. I helped shuck it one time. My most special day was when I got to play with my friends in the field. I like to meet new kids and play. I like to help count the eggs and weigh the food. I like to play CSA at my house with my wooden fruits and vegetables. Thank you for the plums.”

“I have really been pleased with the new variety of foods in my share this season vs. last year’s share!  I’m so happy to see shiitakes, asparagus, sprouts, rhubarb, maple syrup, honey, bok choy, radishes, strawberries….so much more variety than last year!”

“I just wanted to commend you for all of the work you did to put this website together. From the subscriber point of view, it is great! I was able to communicate with my husband (who is currently in California), have him look a the share info for himself, and place my order easily and quickly. I am thrilled that the season will extend, and that you now accept credit cards (I always had trouble remembering the dates for the checks). I am also excited about the addition of pork, and the promise of lamb…I love being able to feed my family an entire meal that comes from real people, from animals that were allowed to move and eat proper food, and I love being able to ignore Salmonella warnings because my food does not come from a feed lot somewhere far away, but rather from people nearby who love their land and value their customers.”
