Pasture-Raised Eggs

Mobile eggsOur pasture-raised (way better than free-range) chicken eggs are our pride and joy. During the day, our hens are constantly outside, scratching and pecking the open fields. Their home is a mobile chicken coop (a cool shelter either perched on an old utility trailer or wooden sled rails) which gets moved every couple of days to a fresh stretch of pasture. This constant exposure to real grass and grubs makes their yolks much darker and more flavorful than any laid by a “free-range” hen. Quite frankly, they’re the best darn eggs you’ll ever encounter.

Eggs can be added to any size produce share or can be ordered on their own.

In 2007, one of our subscribers wrote the following about our eggs for an Essay Contest that we sponsored. What more can we say?

Eggs“Frankly, they never cease to inspire my awe. In fact, when my friend and I start talking about the vibrant color of the yolks, which are not mellow yellow but powerful like the setting sun, the delight we experience when we get the double-yolked ones, how the yolks are so savory that when one scrambles them they taste like cheese…well, my friend’s husband now knows to just walk away because this enthusiastic discourse is going to last more than a few minutes. Sometimes more. Having not grown up on a farm and having eaten grocery-store eggs all my life, these eggs are a constant source of wonder for me. I mean, what kind of righteous hens are laying these works of sculptural art?”
