Mennonite Friends The Mennonite farming families who grow your produce, raise your livestock, and make your pies, apple butter, and fresh flower bouquets live in the Shenandoah Valley near Bridgewater, VA. While I could generalize about their culture (e.g., horse and buggies and bicycles for transport, hats and trousers for men and bonnets and dresses for women, clotheslines for drying laundry, etc...) and religious convictions, I respectfully decline for one simple reason, I know them as friends. They, like you, have names, unique personalities, and stories worth repeating. To that end, from time to time, I would like to introduce them to you and tell you their tales. As many of you know, I grew up on a farm in Oregon. And I suppose it should come as no surprise that I have chosen a livelihood which takes me back to my rural roots. And although I am not certain of much in this crazy world, I do know this: when I visit the valley I'm easily absorbed into my farming friends' anachronistic ways; I'm confortable; I feel at home. All the best, Brett
